Robert Juliat Merlins star in New Zealand
When MJF Lighting in Wellington, New Zealand, knew they would be supplying the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo they decided it was time to purchase some new followspots. Managing Director Michael Farrand wanted the best and so he immediately turned to Robert Juliat, eventually deciding upon four Merlin 2500W HMI models.
“I bought them because there was nothing in this country suitable for that particular event,” he commented. “I’ve found the Merlins to be some of the nicest equipment I have ever had to work with. They are absolutely incredible.”
Since the Tattoo, MJF’s Merlin followspots have been on a few international rock tours and other large events as well as on a film shoot.
“The Merlins are beautifully engineered,” continued Michael. “The design has been thought about and they’ve obviously consulted thoroughly with the people who use the product. They’ve thought about everything: the balance of them, where the controls are located and how they go in and out of the roadcases. Every little detail has been thought about.”
Merlin is the culmination of an ambitious project to produce a powerful, rugged followspot for the touring market. With an output that belies its 2500W HMI lamp and a massive 3°-12° beam range, Merlin covers both long and medium throw ranges in one unit.
Merlin delivers a performance that outshines the ever-increasing power of LED lighting and videowall backlighting, while newly designed bodywork ensures Merlin is easy to transport, install and maintain, tough enough for the road and supremely tourable.
