Life Church engaged Christchurch-based Technical Event Solutions Limited to consult, design and supply a fully overhauled production setup for their new QE2 Campus. The building was built post-earthquake and had previously been operated by another church group, and Life Church wished to start afresh with a production set-up that would provide continuity with their other campus. The system also had to be low maintenance and future-proofed.
The product selection was heavily influenced by products that TES had either supplied into Life Church’s other campus or that they hold in their rental stock. This included six ShowPRO LED Fresnel RGBAL, eight ShowPRO LED PAR Quad-18, 13 x ShowPRO Fusion Bar Q and an MA Lighting grandMA3 Node.
“The ShowPRO LED Fresnel RGBAL gives great front light coverage and being full colour is a big benefit when it comes to creating engaging looks on the stage,” remarked Alexander Wilson, Director at TES. “The reduced power consumption compared to tungsten fresnels is also a significant bonus and made the need for dimmers redundant.”
The ShowPRO LED PAR Quad-18 were chosen for side and backlight as TES has sold Life Church a decent number of them over the last few years and it made sense again for this project. Having continuity across the spaces is a big win.
The Corflute backdrop needed up lighting and from owning 32 Fusion Bar Q in their rental stock, TES knew exactly what product to recommend.
“The punch and saturation of the colours plus the ability to map the LED cells individually result in some great vibrant looks on the backdrop,” added Alexander. “For control, we chose an MA Lighting grandMA3 Node, the third grandMA3 product we have supplied to Life Church, with their other Campus being controlled with an MA3 Wing and MA3 Node. They benefit from having a wealth of operator knowledge in house, as well as on-call from us, as we also hold MA3 in our stock.”
Alexander commented that, as always, the service from Nick Reeves at Show Technology’s Auckland office was excellent.
“Even with Covid related shipping delays and supplier shortages there has been clear communication through the entire sales process,” he noted. “The client is stoked with the result, and we are too.”
