Since receiving their eight Robert Juliat Dalis 860 asymmetrical 300W LED cyc lights the tech crew at Ballarat’s Her Majesty’s Theatre could not imagine using anything else.
“Since they have been in operation, the Dalis 860 have been our primary cyc unit,” commented Andrew McDonald, Manager, Technical Operations at Her Majesty’s. “We run six of the units and keep a couple as spares. We’ve never had an issue with them failing mid-show or anything like that despite being constantly used by all hirers. Clients find excuses to use them so if they don’t need a cyc light they’ll use them as ground row or similar!”
The Dalis 860 is designed to deliver powerful, smooth coverage and a huge variety of pastel and saturated colours. With exclusive asymmetrical reflectors that spread the light more evenly over vertical surfaces, Dalis provides a massive output across the full-colour spectrum.
“We found their LED technology to be excellent and they had better colour mixing abilities than a lot of the other lamps around,” added Andrew. “This was the same for their output and the small profile of the actual fixture.”
Equipped with an advanced fanless cooling system, Dalis also offers silent operation which is perfect for sound-sensitive applications such as theatres.
