The Kingston Butter Factory has been transformed into a world-class community precinct for arts, culture and entertainment including Logan’s largest outdoor event space with a capacity for up to 5,000 people.
Even though most of the lighting fixtures are located beneath the stage roof they still needed to be IP-rated as they are permanently housed there. Fortunately Show Technology has a wide range of IP-rated fixtures to suit any venue.
“Although the fixtures are undercover, it gives us extra peace of mind for the longevity of the fixtures,” commented Nathan Roser, Technical & Production Supervisor at Kingston Butter Factory. “We have three lighting bars in the overhead grid with the bars able to move position whenever required and so far, all of the lights have performed excellently.”
After a visit to Show Technology’s Brisbane showroom, Nathan knew the ShowPRO Neptune range was ideal for this project and so he chose eight ShowPRO Neptune 400 FX Wash IP65 and four ShowPRO Neptune 400 Hybrid IP65.
The ShowPRO Neptune 400 FX Wash is an innovative IP65 moving head LED wash, combining 7x40w and 1x60W RGBW LED sources in an advanced optical design, as well as a creative, LED ring effect. The ShowPRO Neptune 400 Hybrid is a powerful IP65-rated hybrid moving head, with high-efficiency optics, and a wide zoom angle from 3-30° that provides a strong beam and spot effects.
“We chose the ShowPRO Neptune 400 FX Wash as they offer so much versatility,” commented Nathan. “It’s like getting multiple kinds of lights in the one fixture and that allows us to create some very dynamic looks. We’ve used the LED ring function a fair bit and it’s been looking very good.
“As we wanted variety between the wash and profile fixtures in the rig, we added four Neptune Hybrids to keep the lighting uniform.”
ShowPRO Fusion Wash Q27 and Fusion Wash Q48 LED floodlights are used to provide additional overhead colour with the Q48 cell also an attractive floor option for clients wanting to add an extra dynamic to the stage.
Out front are a couple of poles for additional front light with each pole housing a Prolights Panorama IP WBX.
“The intensity that comes out of such a small fixture and form factor is very impressive!” added Nathan. “They have been well received by our lighting operators. We’ve had a few contractors come through and be surprised by what those lights can do.”
An MA Lighting MA3 compact XT was chosen for control with Nathan remarking that it has been performing well for them and everyone has enjoyed using it.
“Show Tech has provided great support for the newer software, helping us translate fixture profiles over from MA2 to MA3 if required,” said Nathan. “Clint Dulieu from Show Tech has been extremely helpful and is always on hand to help.”
