For the past few years, BSG has been MA2 users saying that the platform has served them well, however, the company always likes to stay on the front foot when it comes to new technology and hence purchased the MA3 light console.
“It was a natural progression as we know that it’s a console that works and all of our operators are happy with it,” remarked James Young, BSG’s Production Manager. “A big factor in the purchase was the cross-hire ability of the console as that’s a big market for us. It’s a recognised and well-known platform, you very rarely get someone say they don’t want an MA console! It’s a platform we know we can trust, it’ll work and the technology is good.”
James added that as soon as he talked to his lighting crew about getting an MA3 console, they were all on board and keen to do so. BSG’s MA3 light is running MA3 software.
BSG Senior Lighting Tech Andrew Detenon says that the switch to MA3 is a great step into the future and he has not had any issues with the MA3 software.
“I have been using the MA3 software for a couple of years, across other consoles and systems, so it made sense for BSG to do the same,” he said. “I’m really liking MA3. I’ve used it in many applications. The console has a modern touch and feel. The dual encoders and buttons are excellent when spending hours programming and operating. The software has come a long way since the beginning. Swipeys, Fixture copy and paste and recipes are all great functions! This is my console of choice for sure.”
Andrew cites BSG’s good relationship with Show Technology as a bonus and he’s sure they will be buying more MA3 in the future!
