After purchasing Ayrton Perseos last year, Queensland-based IJS Productions has increased its inventory with even more Ayrton fixtures Zonda 9, Karif LT and Mistrals.
“We are extremely happy with our Ayrton products,” commented Steve Grimes, IJS’ General Manager. “Their products are very well accepted and that’s a major plus to buying Ayrton. Our Perseos get swapped in for everything and they’ve done really well for us.”
IJS Productions purchased the sixteen Ayrton Zonda 9 Wash on their first day of release in Australia as they were keen to be the first production company to own the product.
“We were looking for a big LED wash fixture that could keep up with the Perseos – it’s always a problem when you buy a big powerful profile, you need the equivalent wash to match it!” said Steve. “They’re very bright – we used them on Good Things Festival and you could see the colours onstage during the day which is unusual.”
In fact, the Zonda 9 Wash’s LED/optical system combination can produce a powerful light output of 25,000 lumens and a perfectly homogeneous mixture of pastel and saturated colours, regardless of the colour mix chosen.
“It has a highly intensive beam with a zoom ratio of 14:1 and a wide zoom range of 4.0° to 56° which is useful,” added Steve. “It also has a silent ventilation mode to accommodate the quieter environment often required by stage lighting.”
At last year’s Sydney Ayrton product launch, Steve was introduced to the Karif LT, Ayrton’s ultra-compact 300W LED beam-spot, and it was love at first sight.
“As soon as Show Technology got some in stock I bought twenty-four and I have another twenty-four coming!” he said. “The Karif LT has moved into that beam/spot/hybrid role and is really performing. I feel a lot of people haven’t picked up on just how good they are. They’ve been very popular with overseas LDs as they tend to be more familiar with the product.”
The Karif LT is capable of delivering stunning visual effects. An ultra-compact 300 W beam-spot luminaire equipped with a 168 mm frontal lens, offers an astronomical zoom ratio of 17:1 and a zoom range of 2.8° to 47°.
“As with all our Ayrton products, they are very reliable,” added Steve. “A large number of gobos, zoom range and great colours allow for plenty of creativity. They’re a tidy little unit but deliver a lot of punch and can deliver narrow beam as well as wide textured prism looks.”
The Mistrals were purchased to complete IJS’ family of Ayrton, infact, IJS has made two Mistral purchases, totalling twenty-four fixtures, and suspects there will be more added later this year.
“They are very, very accepted – I’ve swapped every manufacturer’s fixtures for the Ayrton and they’ve all been happy,” added Steve. “No one has ever said no so that’s a good thing. They’ve become quite common now, everyone is getting them and there’s a reason why.”
Steve concludes that the Ayrton purchases are also “all about Show Technology because Show technology rock” adding that they deliver great products and great service and he is more than happy to wave their flag!
