Bouncing back from the nightmare that was Covid, Dave Jackson of Creative Productions insisted he would not be investing in new gear for at least two years. However, as the work flooded in he could not resist adding to his inventory and he went big! Ayrton Perseos, Ayrton Zonda 9 Washes, more Ayrton Mistrals, Ayrton Eurus, Claypaky MiniBs, Martin Aura XIPs, zactrack, MA3 lights, MA3 full size, ShowPRO DiamondBacks and more ShowPRO Colliders were all welcomed into the Creative warehouse.
“We’ve been using Ayrton Mistrals for a long time and they have become our go-to workhorse fixture so we added another 24,” said Dave. “They have always been rock solid so staying with the brand was a no brainer. We also decided to heavily invest in Eurus that are bright, have a good gobo selection, wide zoom ratio and the optics are incredible. Like all Ayrton products, they are very easy to set up and very powerful.”
Dave didn’t stop there with the Ayrton products, he also purchased 24 x Zonda 9 Washes which are designed specifically for stage lighting.
“We were looking for a wash light that could cover the entire stage and so when the Zonda 9 Wash came out we bought them sight unseen – that’s how much we trust Ayrton,” he remarked. “It’s versatile as it can easily switch from beam to wash. It has heaps of effects and is very fast.
“After last year’s Splendour in the Grass where the rain bucketed down and the front truss copped it, I decided the Perseos would be a worthy investment! It’s important in Australia to have fixtures that can deal with our crazy weather. They’re bright and have great colours.”
Finally, Dave ordered Ayrton Cobras, again for their IP-rating, describing them as a powerful and versatile beam fixture that delivers a good zoom, frost, gobos, prisms and bright darker colours.
Another product that Dave is excited about and could not resist buying was the Martin Aura XIP compact moving head wash light with its durable yet lightweight design that’s rated for outside usage, ensuring uncompromised coverage and output in any weather condition. He ordered 48 x units and has been impressed by their light weight and easily programmable eye candy.
Although Creative has tended to stock Spikies in the past, Dave decided to switch to Claypaky Mini-Bs and has been very happy with his decision.
“We purchased 48 x Mini-Bs and have not been disappointed,” he said. “Our clients love them for their brightness, compact size, reliability and cost efficiency. They make a huge visual impact and are very reliable and easy to maintain.”
To top off his amazing array of new technology, Dave added 24 x ShowPRO DiamondBacks to his inventory and their stunning strobe effects have been seen on Snoop Dog’s tour and also The Smashing Pumpkins recent tour.
“The Smashing Pumpkins’ lighting designer was so impressed with the DiamondBacks he wants us to send him 50 units for their US tour!” revealed Dave.
Dave recently acquired zactrack which was trialled on Ruel’s tour. He also added two more MA Lighting grandMA3 lights and grandMA3 full size.
