When Porsche Centre Hobart decided to celebrate 75 years of Porsche they held a spectacular event at Frogmore Creek Winery and this was the ideal opportunity for Sound House to debut their new Ayrton Mistrals as well as bring out their MA Lighting grandMA3 onPC command wing.
When asked about choosing Ayrton, Simon Widdowson Sound House’s Managing Director, commented that the strong brand awareness in the market, the quality of the fixtures plus the output and weight of the lights were all deciding factors.
“We looked at other fixtures from various manufacturers however the Mistral impressed with its’ weight and that was important because some of our venues don’t have a very high rating for rigging,” explained Simon. “Added to that, the Mistral’s size and output made it the winner.”
Simon further noted that the Mistral’s optics were exceptional and they came with a great selection of gobos.
Simon admits that for years his company has been chopping and changing lighting consoles but the time had come to settle on one major brand. With MA Lighting already the favoured option in the majority of venues and on touring productions, it was a no-brainer.
“We wanted a console that would see us into the next few years and that has to be an MA,” he said. “I particularly like the new software that is always changing and upgrading. It took a bit of time to get used to but we’re enjoying it now.”
