Illumination+Optics, the Wellington-based lighting and video design company, has expanded its inventory with Ayrton Perseo Profiles and an MA Lighting grandMA3 light console.
“Initially, we were drawn to the Ayrton Perseo as it was showing up on a lot of riders coming through,” commented Morgan Whitfield, Managing Director. “I also wanted something we could put in the rain and drown!”
Morgan reports that since acquiring his Ayrton Perseos they have been in plenty of nice wet environments with no issues at all.
“They’re about to be put outside in the Botanical Gardens for two months so that’ll be a good test,” he said. “They’re going onto a light festival that’s happening here in Wellington called Light Cycles which is by Moment Factory.”
Morgan reveals that before opting for the Ayrton Perseo, they conducted a shoot-out of several profile fixtures with the Perseo coming out on top.
“It was the colours that they produced that initially impressed me,” he remarked. “They have such a smooth field of colours and the brightness is amazing too. Smooth dimming and an impressive zoom range make them the ideal profile.”
As the company already owns MA2 consoles, the leap to the MA3 light was a no-brainer. Since the delivery of the console just over a month ago, it has been working hard on a variety of gigs.
“It’s been solid,” stated Morgan. “It’s compact, a slightly smaller footprint than MA2 which has been good. We’re running it in MA2 and MA3 mode as the guys transition over. We’ve found the latest update makes it far more usable. The guys particularly like the Recipes.”
