With an arena space similar in size to an Olympic swimming pool, the home of the Australian Outback Spectacular utilises every possible space to create the vibrant and ever-changing landscape of the Australian outback.
The current production, Heartland, tells the tale of two struggling Aussie farmers, Reg and Marge, and the community’s courage, bravery and generosity to help them overcome a stunning, yet unforgiving life on the land.
Crucial to the production was the ability to produce a cloud of fog across the surface of the arena floor and the venue’s current foggers were struggling. The low-lying fog was required for three key moments during the show so the technical team tested a few models to see which would best suit their needs.
“We discovered that the Look Solutions Cryo-Fog was the clear winner,” commented Adam Moir, Technical Supervisor of Australian Outback Spectacular & Paradise Country. “It delivered the best outcome and the best look through the entire arena.”
The powerful Cryo-Fog features a fan and a cooling chamber built into a compact flight case with space next to the fog generator to hold a 5-litre can of fluid. Liquid CO2 is used to cool the fog of the inbuilt low-temperature fog generator, resulting in the machine producing thick low fog which distributes evenly.
“We’re very impressed with the amount of CO2 the Cryo-Fog uses,” added Adam. “It’s reduced our CO2 usage and our fluid usage has also reduced compared to the machines we had. So they’re quite economical. We used to have eight machines, but now we’re down to six which do the job better.”
Adam is further impressed by the Cryo-Fog’s compact size, low weight, low noise and easy operation. He reports that since acquiring the Cryo-Fog, he hasn’t had a single issue with them and they have been running perfectly.
“We run them for about two to three minutes at a time, and that fills the entire arena,” he added. “Also, the service from Show Technology was great and very professional. We have a great relationship with them.”
