Palvision Entertainment has acquired eight Ayrton Mistrals, and owner Calum Young is thrilled with the purchase, adding that the Mistral is the ideal light to add to his inventory and bring more creativity to his designs.
“The Mistral is bright, fast, reliable and low maintenance,” he commented. “They offer great brightness with low power consumption. The colours are great, and I like the way they quickly snap through colours. They have a great variety of different gobos.”
Not only does the Mistral’s small size mean that Calum can fit all eight of them in his van, but their small footprint also allows him to set the fixtures directly on the stage, even in the smaller venues.
This was evident when Boy & Bear, whom Calum has lit for quite some time, took to the stage for a couple of sold-out Twilight at Taronga concerts. The concert already had a fabulous rig supplied by ei Productions; however, Calum was keen to add a floor package of his Mistrals.
“I used five of my Mistrals, which permitted me a wide variety of expressions on the floor,” Calum said. “It was a nice little easy quick set up for a package and very effective for the band as they have such nice optics and you can do quite subtle features with them.
“I feel that the Mistral is going to be one of those lights that will hang around for the next decade, similar to the longevity of the MAC700.”
