Now that all things entertainment seem to be happening again, ei Productions has hit the ground running with purchases to bolster their production inventory whilst also moving on some older gear to good homes.

“Everyone wants more and better gear, and we’re no exception,” commented Neale Mace, Managing Director at ei Productions. “We already have good experience with Ayrton moving heads as we were one of the first to buy ‘the Ayrton Ghibli in Australia and it’s been a remarkable, reliable fixture that is now used worldwide and seen on lots of tech riders.

After a lot of internal discussions and a few impromptu, informal demos/shootouts Neale’s suspicion that the new Ayrton Eurus was the next larger fixture for them to buy was confirmed.

“There are almost too many features to list, but the main points for us were the LED source, output brightness, colour rendition, motorised shutter blades, amazing zoom capabilities and great gobo selection on-board,” he added. Plus it’s an Ayrton so they come with the comprehensive after-sales service and backup from Show Technology.”

Ei Productions has taken delivery of 32 Eurus so far with some going straight out on shows and Neale notes that he is already seeing them on lighting specs so he’s sure they’ll be a great asset to their inventory.

Also new to ei Productions are a swarm of Claypaky Mini-Bs, chosen as they were looking for a smaller wash-type LED fixture with at least RGBW, great output and decent zoom.

“We found what we were looking for in the Claypaky Mini-B,” said Neale. “Claypaky has had products in our inventory forever it seems from way back when there were AstroSpyders and AstroRaggi. They’ve always made innovative, reliable products and the Mini-B looks like it’s no exception to that rule.

“Plus, when you go to their factory in Bergamo the staff are so great, they have a great lighting museum on site, an amazing lighting showroom, and the food nearby is AMAZING.”

One of ei Productions’ crew used some at a festival and commented to Neale how great they were and as he already owned an amount of Claypaky B-Eye K20 and K10 he thought the Mini-B would fit in nicely.

“They’re a big light in a small package and can hold their own on a stage with other fixtures,” he added. “Ägain, having the service and backup from Show Technology Australia helped make the decision easier.
