Melbourne’s Above & Beyond Production Services took delivery of sixteen Martin MAC XIP before Christmas and Director Jez Nolan is thrilled with the purchase.
“We always try to look toward IP-rated fixtures, our inventory is over 75% IP-rated fixtures,” Jez explained. “Even though these are IP54, if you look at the testing Martin has done they have put them through a lot which makes us very confident they will take some abuse.”
Martin’s smart outdoor-capable design intelligently seals away vital electronics while exposing the cooling system to the elements which allows for a lighter, quieter and more versatile unit that can be used anywhere, at any time, reinventing the universal indoor/outdoor-rated concept.
Visually, the MAC XIP delivers saturated washes and detailed blends thanks to its twelve RGBW aura filaments, pixel control with video mapping capabilities and an optimized light engine for more accurate coverage and minimal stray light. “The MAC XIP’s colours and output are great, super-rich which we love,” said Jez. “Of course, they also do soft pastels and white tones. They also have an even wash field with zero hotspots and a nice soft edge to create a better stage wash.”
Jez notes that the filament feature is ‘super cool’ and he has no doubt that it will be super popular with his clientele.
“I’m looking forward to seeing some new and exciting eye candy looks onstage this summer!” he said. “The MAC XIP does as they say on the box and they are a nice upgrade to the previous model of the Aura XB.
“We have already put them through many jobs with all that use enjoy and we’ll be looking to expand on our current stock this year.”
